…And to think I once thought that I’d never see the end of the friggin GMAT.
Looking Back
Almost exacty a year ago, I hit “publish” on my very first blog post for MBAOver30.com. Real talk, no one could have told me that the past 364 days would have unfolded as they have. I am both humbled and elated all at once.
A Humble, Yet Shameless Plug
Well, it’s that time of year again. Clear admit has announced its nominees for “The Best in Blogging” in MBA land. I made the list, and am thankful to both Clear Admit and all of my readers, classmates, haters and hecklers for having made this past year pretty amazing. If my posts have inspired you (or someone you know) in any way, please be so kind as to….

(Thanks!)
More than anything else, I hope that this blog has served (and continues to serve) as an inspiration to any aspiring applicant to a top business school such that they know that they can accomplish great things in this process with diligence, tenacity, and the hours of hard work that it takes to make sure that your profile and story lands just right, for the right people, at the right time and at the right school for you.
Rudeness Corrected
Another blogger’s post (Cheetarah’s) made me realize that I was remiss at shouting out my friends who’ve also been nominated for having great MBA blogs; My bad! Congrats to Cheetarah1980, Hamm0, Sassafras, UnclearAdmit and the Senator on your nominations based on the value that you’ve provided to the MBA applicant community in your posts – and special congrats to Cheetarah1980, The Senator and UnclearAdmit, who’ve been at this for two years strong.
And on that note, please feel free to pop a bottle and enjoy some theme music…

Voted! And not just because you told me to. 🙂 I believe I’ve left a comment on one of your posts before, but seriously, you were the blog I went to when I (often) hyperventilated about the fact that I was 34 and trying to get into top programs and ohmygodwhatifnobodywantsmebecauseI’moverthehill. Your posts helped keep me sane, and I’m happy to report that I was accepted into 3 of my 4 (and only because I withdrew my 4th app before getting a final answer): Booth, Haas, and Kellogg. Matriculating at Kellogg and joining you as evidence that the over-30 naysayers are wrong. Congrats on a well-deserved nomination!

That is awesome! Congrats on getting into some creme’ de la creme’ programs and matriculating into Kellogg.

Done. Thanks very much for this blog. I’m 35 and planning to go to B school. Long way to way to go as I’m still in planning phase. Age was a big factor I was concerned about and then I read your blog. Its so encouraging. I have a question-I completed PhD last year and am not sure whether I should only pick schools which waive GRE/GMAT for PhDs or just write GMAT , score good and try(atleast) to get in to one of the top schools and increase my chances to get scholarship. Would you give some advise?

My advice is to apply to your dream schools and package yourself based on what they are looking for.

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve been following you for over a year, and that I really appreciate your efforts. It was always helpful to see someone going through the same process. I’ll be attending Darden this fall and am extremely excited. Best wishes to you at Wharton!!
oh, and you got my vote!
